What PrivBgCut can do
Why PrivBgCut never goes online
Every stage runs fully offline. Design premise: the app can be installed, activated, and used on a computer that has never been connected to the internet.
- Install — the installer bundles everything needed. No download during setup.
- Startup — no update check, no model download. Every time, not just the first.
- Processing — all processing happens on your machine. Images are never uploaded.
- Activation — verified locally. No server connection.
- Updates — you download new installers yourself. The app never checks for or downloads updates.
Two things are outside the app's control. Neither affects how it runs, and neither involves your images:
Windows SmartScreen The first time you run an unsigned installer, Windows may send the installer's hash to Microsoft to look up its reputation. This doesn't affect how the app runs — click "More info → Run anyway," and it won't appear again. Even if this PC has never been online, the app installs and runs normally.
WebView2 updates WebView2 is a browser component that ships with Windows. Windows Update may update it. This doesn't involve any app data, and you don't need to do anything. Even if the system never updates it, the app keeps working.
Input
Any way you have an image, there's a way to load it.
Drag & drop
Drop one image or a folder of images directly onto the window.
Pick files or a folder
Choose specific files, or pick a folder and it scans every subfolder for supported images.
Paste from clipboard
Ctrl+V any image from a screenshot, browser, or another app. It enters the queue like any other file.
Supported formats
PNG, JPG, JPEG, WebP, BMP, GIF. Animated GIFs and WebP use the first frame.
Models
Four models, all unlocked. Pick one per image, or the same one for a whole batch.
Quick Preview
Very fastRough batch work where speed matters more than hair edges.
General · Smooth
Medium speedBalanced output for everyday photos.
General · High Quality
SlowerFinal output where edges matter.
Portrait · Light
Medium speedPeople: ID photos, video calls, livestreams. Good on hair.
Switching models doesn't throw away previous results. Each (image, model) pair keeps its own cached result — switch back and it's still there.
Processing
Single images or hundreds. The button respects the size of the job.
One at a time
Select an image, click Remove Background. Works for a quick single cutout.
Batch, unlimited
Queue any number of images and click Process All. No per-image cap, no queue limit. Cancel any time — the image currently being processed finishes, then the batch stops.
Memory check
Before starting, the app checks available memory against what the model needs. If it's tight, it asks first and offers a memory-saving mode instead of silently thrashing.
Review & compare
Look at the cutout before you export it. Nothing is exported without you seeing it first.
Three views
Original, Result, and a draggable Compare slider. Zoom with the mouse wheel, the +/− buttons, or a double-click to fit.
Transparent canvas
The result view shows a checkerboard so you can see exactly what's transparent and what isn't.
Backgrounds
Keep transparent, set a solid color (white / black / any hex), or pick a background image. Compositing happens before export, on your machine.
No rush
Review is a separate step from export. Switch back to the original at any time. Results stay until you clear the queue.
Export
PNG, full resolution, no watermarks, no export limits.
Single PNG
Export the current image at its original resolution. If you picked a background, it's composited in. Otherwise it's a transparent PNG.
Batch ZIP
Process dozens of images, then export all of them as one ZIP. Filenames follow the originals — photo.jpg becomes photo-cutout.png. Same-name collisions get a numbered suffix instead of overwriting.
Nothing held back
No watermarks, no preview-only exports, no "upgrade to download" nag. What you see in the preview is what lands on disk.
Workflow
The small things that make a long session less tedious.
Disk cache
Same image + same model = instant on the second run. Cached results live on your disk and clean themselves up after 30 days.
Keyboard shortcuts
Ctrl+O to open, Ctrl+Enter to process, Delete to remove from the queue, Esc to close dialogs.
5 languages
English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어. Auto-detected from your system, switchable any time.
Light & dark
Follows your preference. Switch any time. The choice is remembered between sessions.
What fully offline rules out
Fully offline is a design constraint, not a feature checkbox. It rules some things out, and that's the point.
Windows only
The app is Windows 10/11. macOS and Linux are not tested yet and are not offered for download.
CPU inference, not GPU
Processing runs on your CPU. It's slower than a server GPU would be, which is the trade-off for having no server.
Fixed models
Models are bundled with each installer. There's no silent model upgrade mid-session. New models arrive when you install a new version.
No cloud, no accounts
No sync, no team sharing, no history across devices. Each install is self-contained.
No subscription
Offline apps can't periodically verify a subscription. The result is a one-time price and a 30-day pass option — no recurring charges.
Limited format support
PNG, JPG, JPEG, WebP, BMP, GIF. TIFF and AVIF are not currently supported.
System requirements
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)
Any CPU built after about 2013. Specifically, one with AVX2 — every Windows 11 machine has it. If the app doesn't start on an older Windows 10 PC, a missing AVX2 is the likely cause.
Disk space
Download is about 460 MB. Installed footprint is about 300 MB — the app itself plus the AI models, which account for most of the size because they run on your machine instead of a server.
WebView2 runtime
A Microsoft component used by Edge and many Windows apps. Already present on Windows 11 and most recent Windows 10 machines. If missing, the installer adds it automatically — no internet required.
